The Westbank YMCA was an integral component of the redevelopment of the Naval Support Activity installation into a multi-use development known as Federal City. The development was designed to serve 2,300 – 2,900 membership units; including 600-800 units provided for and subsidized by the military. The project had two phases, Phase One included general renovations to the existing building and the addition of 6,119 gross s.f. The facility comprised of a renovated and expanded entrance and socialization area, a new multi-purpose room, renovated locker rooms, renovated gymnasium, an aerobics/dance studio, a cycling/spinning room, meeting rooms and administrative space. Phase Two was completed, but under the ownership of Ochsner Health System.
